[That's certainly a question. And she will try very hard to not give too honest an answer there. Mostly because she's really enjoying herself and doesn't want to skip or fast forward through things.]

Whatever you like would be fine. I'm not a very picky eater.

[That's true enough. She's pickier when it comes to dessert, but for the actual food itself, she's fairly agreeable.

...of course that also applies to the answer she's trying to not give, but that's not important right now.]

[This is a bit sweeter treatment than she's used to. But that's no reason to decline, so she'll take that offered arm.]

And that would be fine. I'm not adverse to trying something new, but something familiar is nice too.

In a place as weird as this, it's nice to have the taste of home.

[She has absolutely no plans to bring up how others treat her, honestly. She really doesn't want to spoil this time by bringing up Andersen or something like that.]

It adds to the strangeness though, being in a completely different world and yet being able to find something so familiar. But I'm not the type to worry about that sort of thing.

Were you expecting the food here to be neon green slime or something else 'alien' enough?

I don't know about green slime, though I expected the food to be at least a little unfamiliar. I'm certainly glad it isn't slime though. I'm sure it would make for a memorable evening, but I'd rather our dinner be something more enjoyable.

Me too. I've had some dates go badly before, but slime would be a new one for me.

I suppose there could be worse times during a date to encounter unexpected slime, but during dinner has to be near the top of the list.

[Not that she's the date expert or anything, just a hunch.]

Not sure I'd love running into slime in the bedroom either.

Might be better to replace them entirely. Though slime's not something I've run into yet, so I don't think we'll have anything to worry about today.

The restaurant's not far, and they get a nice cozy corner booth in a somewhat quiet area. The walls are covered in art of gem people along with art of fish and sushi.]

Sometime I have got to look up the art history here, it seems wild.

It does seem rather interesting, doesn't it?

[Art history isn't really one of her interests, but it does get her attention.]

I'd certainly like to know how they've come up with such similar things to home, while also creating things so completely different.

Right? I can understand cuisine coming out similar if there are similar selections of animals and crops to work with, but art should be totally different.

That would make sense. And the people here are certainly different enough.
